About
Welcome to I, Pilot.
The title of this blog was inspired by Leonard E. Read’s classic essay entitled, I, Pencil, which chronicles the incredible free-market miracle that produces an ordinary pencil.
Like the pencil, I too have had “innumerable antecedents” in my evolution as a pilot and flight instructor—people seen and unseen, people inside and outside of aviation. And just as writing is all that Read’s pencil admits to being able to do, “flying is both my vocation and my avocation; it’s almost all that I do” as well.
I hope you enjoy my periodic musings about the people, places, and planes that I—an ordinary aviator who has been extraordinarily blessed—have had the privilege to interact with, see, and fly. Much of what I’ll write about will be fairly recent events. However, I may also occasionally write about past events that have influenced my aviation career; these posts will appear in the Flashback category.
