CP Aviation Adds Advanced Spin Training in a Pitts S-2B

SANTA PAULA, CALIFORNIA--CP Aviation, Inc. of Santa Paula, California has expanded its unusual attitude training programs to include a new Advanced Spin Training Module. A Pitts S-2B is the featured training platform for this specialized module.

The Advanced Spin Training Module follows the same building-block approach used in CP Aviation's renowned Emergency Maneuver Training--EMT®--Program. Pilots taking advanced spin training will gain practical experience with upright and inverted flat spins, transition spins, and aggravated spins resulting from botched maneuvers. The module consists of two separate lessons and can be completed in one day.

According to Master CFI-A, Rich Stowell, "We're excited about offering advanced spin training in the Pitts. This certainly will be a nice complement to our EMT® Program." By combining EMT® Module I (Stall/Spin Awareness) with the Advanced Spin Training Module, pilots will now be able to explore the entire spin envelope in a structured environment. Many of the persistent myths and misconceptions about stalls and spins will be dispelled in the process.

Advanced Spin Training Module (1.5 hours flight time)

Lesson 1: 1. Review normal upright spins
2. Upright Flat Spin Build-up -- Left Spin, add power only; Left Spin, apply right (out-spin) aileron only; Left Spin, apply power & right (out-spin) aileron
3. Hands-on & Hands-off Spin Recoveries (as appropriate)
4. Unusual Attitude Spin Recoveries
Lesson 2: 1. Review normal inverted spins
2. Inverted Flat Spin Build-up -- Right Spin, add power only; Right Spin, apply right (out-spin) aileron only; Right Spin, apply power and right (out-spin) aileron
3. Hands-on & Hands-off Spin Recoveries (as appropriate)
4. Unusual Attitude Spin Recoveries
5. Inverted-Upright & Upright-Inverted Transitions

Prerequisites: EMT Module I, Lessons 2 & 3, or equivalent.
